Pray for Others

When most people pray it’s usually about what they want or need God to help them achieve or accomplish. Most of the time it’s a selfish prayer. We must make a habit of praying for others. God knows what we need. Praying for yourself isn’t a bad thing. It’s just a great thing to include other people in your prayers.

God desires that we serve one another. There are several ways to do that, prayer is one of them. The Apostle Paul gives several examples of praying for others throughout the New Testament. He continued to keep the saints (those who love the Lord Jesus Christ) in his prayers. He mentioned this at the beginning of the first chapters and the end of the last chapters of Corinthians through Philemon.  He prayed mostly for grace and peace for them. In Ephesians 6:19 Paul asks for the saints to pray for him. It is important that we pray for each other.

We are also required to pray for people who mistreat us and others (pray instead of retaliating). This is the will of God. No matter what others are doing, right or wrong, we are required to abide by God’s will. I encourage you to keep doing what is right in the sight of God and I truly believe he will bless you for it.

“Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.” (Ephesians 6:23-24)

“To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you.” (Colossians 1:2-3)

“But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you, and persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44)
