Holy Week

On Palm Sunday, Jesus was celebrated as he entered Jerusalem on a donkey (Matthew 21:6-9). The donkey was a symbol of humility and selflessness.

Monday through Thursday the Last Supper is observed. During this time preparations were being made for the Last Supper and Jesus was preparing the disciples for his departure during the meal (Matthew 26:17-29).

On Good Friday, the most solemn day of the year, Jesus was crucified (Matthew 27:32-56).

Holy Saturday observes Jesus being in the tomb. It’s a day to reflect on what life would be like without Jesus.

Resurrection Sunday is a day we celebrate with great joy!  Jesus rose from the dead on this the third day after he was crucified, just like he said he would (Matthew 28:1-7).

Jesus sacrificed himself to save us. The punishment for sin is death (Romans 6:23). He took the punishment we deserve for our sins upon himself. What does Jesus’ sacrifice mean to you?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
